In the 1960's and 1970's, large scale hotels were constructed in Copenhagen, attracting the world to this remote Nordic capital. Filipinas and Filipinos were among the workers recruited for the booming service industry that these hotels were at the core of. Between 1960-1973 hundreds of Filipino Pioneers - as this first generation called themselves - arrived in Denmark. Some migrated on, but many stayed, and many recruited friends and relatives from the Philippines to join them. This archive traces the laboring lives of the Pioneers and those who followed.

There is no such thing as "just old papers". The association newsletters, party programs, work contracts, letters, photographs etc. from the lives of Filipinos in Denmark are part of both your individual and collective history.
